Progression:
As I finish with three songs, going back to try and fix small and big details, I found that going slow and taking your time is a big part of this project. Finishing I believe I rushed this project. Reflection: While creating this project, I found ideas that can help me in life. Such as going slow and taking my time will make the music I created sound better. When rushing I wasn't pleased with the outcome. I also noticed that the small details can be something big, it was worth it going back to fix small details as I was more comfortable with the end product.

Progression:
Going back into the 3rd song I added simple affects and didn't try to overdue it. Adding simple bass, the bass is at a nice and slow BPM. Adding small effects in the background is something I liked about this song. I also carefully placed the tracks and effects in spots where it didn't sound random. Reflection: I still have much to learn about music editing, but I believe I have improved since the 1st song. The making of this is going slow as I am slacking off and only work on this when alone and in a creative mood. I also believe I get help and ideas from reading about other other artists as well as listening to their music. Progress:
I started a 3rd song and like the rest I started a bit different. I started with a piano loop, from the piano loop I added a bass loop. Going more into this I plan to add effects in the back, but hope to not overdue it. Reflection: I am going at an OK pace for this song. As I went into the sound effects I trying to go simple and not complicate things. As I learned from previous try's, I am looking to make something simple. Progress:
Starting my second song I first found a bass riff I liked. After the riff I added snares and simple beats. The making of the song is went by a bit too fast. I found this song going a bit more simple. Reflection: Instead of going complex and adding unnecessary things, I went more simple and with less loops added. In this song i found myself placing the tracks more carefully in spots where it sounded nice and not random. I feel like I rushed this song and is a bit too short. Progression:
Finishing the 1st song I realized I had multiple mistakes. Such as putting in too much at the same time. I made it complex by adding more loops than I should have added. I also realized the transitions weren't nicely put together and could use some work. Reflection: I need to focus on smaller details in order to get better results in the end. I could apply this in my everyday life and focus on small details that can be important in the future. This fail will also help me with the next song I do, as I apply what I have learned from the 1st song. Progress:
Progress towards finishing the 1st song has slowed down. I started to get stuck on how I would I be able to create anything. So I would mess around with what the program has, and would search up songs I liked that helped me look for what I wanted to make. Reflection: I should focus more on the steps of this project. I should mess around with other sounds and look for something instead of waiting for something to come. I have no instrument background so I would have to rely on whats already on the program. Progress:
Starting off I decided to focus on a beat, I ended up using bass and kick snares. I would then place them in spots where they sounded pleasing. I then placed a bass riff over the beat at the same time. Reflection: I learned that placing the tracks is important if I wanted to make the song sound appealing. Such as where to place the bass riff, I decided to place it over the snare beat where it sounded appealing playing together at the same time. Progress:
During this week I tried new things again, and tried putting things together. The 1st song in progress started to sound more like a pop song. Using mostly piano I messed around with the song to get something I liked. I am still unsure about what style to use, but I plan to explore more with the instruments and loops available. Reflection: I was inspired to do this type of music by a band that goes by "Gorillaz". I am working very slowly, but I hope to learn how to use the application a bit more before I show it to anyone. Progress: Looking for an app I stumbled across Soundtrap. Using it I started to play around with different instruments and different sound effects I found. I saw there were some pre-made beats already in the app that caught my attention and plan to use them in the project. Reflection:
I started to think about how I will be able to accomplish my goal of creating a 1-2 minute song. I decided to keep the song short as their would be no lyrics, just instruments. I just hope it's enjoyable to listen to. |
